Tubaphone tone ring, dowel stick and resonator mount - use a penny, not a screwdriver. This was my bluegrass banjo - I liked playing something different than the other kids. I still have the original 4 string Presto - the picture shows the original cover is on a repro 5-string Presto body (perfect fit). This is my '27 with a Bart Reiter neck - the inlays copy a Coles Eclipse 3000. They make great five string conversion banjos. Here's the headstock of my 1925 NO 3 5-string with the new headstock (since sold): It is possible that a few 5 strings were made as the catalog said they were available - only one has been verified. Through 1928, it had 28 individual flanges by 1930, it had a four piece flange. This was the first banjo to feature Grover's new Presto tailpiece - the Vegaphone has an engraved cover. The Vegaphone Professional was introduced mid 1923 and was the first Vega banjo to feature a 23" scale (tenor), full resonator & flanges and the Vega name in the headstock with new inlay pattern (now known as the "scrambled eggs" logo).
